About Me

Who is Carla Hayden? And why should you care about what I have to say? Honestly, I am still trying to figure out the answers to both of these questions…but I will do my best to at least help you fill in the blanks for the first one. 😉

I am first and foremost a child of God. My name was written in the Lamb’s Book of Life on January 5, 1997 but it’s taken me almost 2 decades to really understand and live out of this core identity. My blog posts will reflect what I’ve learned and continue to learn on this journey from brokenness to wholeness…

I am married to my best friend and have been since August 12, 1997. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God chose him for me, and me for him. I believe in the sacred covenant of marriage and am standing on the promise that if God is for us, who can be against us?

I am the biological mother of 3 fearfully and wonderfully made children–born in 1996, 1997, and 1998. I consider being their mama a true vocation, although I didn’t always have this understanding. But as we enter the final season of adolescence and begin peeking around the corner at adulthood, I can tell you that the rewards I’m reaping for what I invested in them are far beyond what I could have ever dreamed or imagined!

I am also the spiritual mother of a handful of other precious souls, and through this awesome privilege I discovered my passion for mentoring and discipling the next generation of believers, regardless of their age!

Speaking of passion, I absolutely LOVE the Word of God! I am a complete Bible geek and can spend hours pouring over the Scriptures, looking up the original Hebrew and Greek words and their meanings, and comparing the different translations and paraphrases. I also LOVE communicating with God through prayer and journaling (I’ve kept an almost-daily journal for over 10 years!)

I also have an intense affinity for good, strong coffee…deep, red wine…and rich, dark chocolate (I thought you might want to know these things up front just in case these were blog-reading-deal-breakers for you!)

So…that’s a little about who I am, but it still begs the question “Why should you care about what I have to say?” Because I am by no means an expert. And I certainly don’t have all the answers. As a matter of fact, I am still waiting on some of the promises of God to be fulfilled in my life.

But if you are a woman…a daughter…a sister…a mom…a wife…

If you are overwhelmed…struggling…suffering…living in fear or doubt or self-hatred…

If you are contending for your marriage…your family…your identity in Christ…

Then I’d like the opportunity to come alongside you as a fellow sojourner who understands what it’s like to live in the wrestle. My hope and prayer is that as I share snippets of my story with you, your heart would be strengthened, encouraged, and inspired to press on.

“For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.” (Hebrews 13:14 NLT)
